Performance-Restricted and Arrangements
It has been a while since I have contributed anything to IMSLP, but I am thinking I will start adding items again soon. I was surprised to see that the Performance-restricted copyright attributions are no longer available for arrangements. Obviously I could edit the page after the fact with the Perf...

Marshall Fine Victimae Paschali
I am trying to enter manuscript scans for Marshall Fine's Victimae Paschali: http://imslp.org/wiki/Victimae_Paschali,_Op.35_(Fine,_Marshall) Based on the materials, the sequence of events appears to be this: 1983: Fine composes "Op.35" for solo organ 1983: FIne arranges it for solo piano a...

Publisher Page for MMB
Is there any copyright reason not to create a publisher page for MMB? It went out of business a few years ago and as far as I know handled mostly or exclusively contemporary music. All of it would be copyrighted music, but when it went out of business many of the rights devolved back onto the indivi...

Re: How to demonstrate permission for copyrighted works
I did not know Ellsworth well myself, though I had the opportunity to visit with him on a couple of occasions. As I mentioned in the OP, his widow has not responded to my emails in recent months, so I don't know whether this will work. But I have sent the request.

How to demonstrate permission for copyrighted works
I would like to create a page and upload a scan (under performance limited license) for a score by the now deceased composer Ellsworth Milburn. His publisher was MMB, but when they disbanded they returned all rights to his estate. As far as I know, he has no descendants and all rights (other than a ...

Re: Marshall Fine Tango in Time of War
As I have discovered, there are significant note and rhythm differences (although identical number of measures), so I will create a separate page when the time comes.

Marshall Fine Tango in Time of War
I need some advice about how to post an alternate version of "Tango in Time of War, Op.100" by Marshall Fine. I have been rummaging through his manuscripts, and it is quite clear to me that a complete version for fl/cl/vln/vla/vlc/pf predates the version for orchestra by a couple of months...

How do I link a work by Josquin Desprez
I would like to link the "Tu solus qui facis mirabilia" work page in a composition list, but I can't figure out how to do it with either LinkWork or LinkWorkN (or CSW, which is what I've been using for the others.) I am assuming this is because Josquin Desprez's name is not formatted like ...

Re: Debussy Les Chansons de Bilitis L96
The 3 Chansons de Bilitis for voice and piano are completely different piece than the Musique de scène pour les Chansons de Bilitis for 2fl, 2hp, csta. As far as I can tell, there is no musical overlap.

Re: Debussy Les Chansons de Bilitis L96
Here is some further clouding of the issue. I have a copy of the first publication, published by Jobert in 1971 with a celesta part by Arthur Hoérée. This seems to be the most standard version of the work, at least in the USA. The copyright notice includes a statement that the 7 (of 12) pieces that ...

Debussy Les Chansons de Bilitis L96
I am curious what the combined wisdom of this forum is regarding Debussy's incidental music for readings of Les Chansons de Bilitis (for 2 flutes, 2 harps, celesta, reciter). Since there is no page for it in IMSLP, I am assuming there must be some issues. The piece was performed once in 1901, but ne...

Is Extracting Parts an Adaptation
I have a question about the Performance-Restricted license and any other that restricts adaptations. I notice that IMSLP is now offering a part-extraction bug next to all the scores. I am wondering if that doesn't count as an adaptation under the license. My reading of the text is that it is certain...

Two Intrumentations of Same Work
I have just created the work page for my "5 Medieval Dances", which exists in two completely different versions. I would like neither to appear as an arrangement. In particular, I would like the version for strings to show up in in the category "2 Violins, Viola, Cello and Double Bass...

George Crumb Vox Balaenae
I think this piece may be mis-tagged. The piece is for 3 players. The 4 crotales are played alternately by the flute and the cello player.
