1. What a baby hears in his/her mother's womb and in infancy influences future intelligence. 2. Mozart was a genius. - then shouldn't we all be exposing our pregnant women and babies to the music of Leopold Mozart? after all, that's what W.A. Mozart grew up with... That made me smile :) Right now, ...

What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

I've seen this subject posted on countless forums, but I was surprised no to see it here. So here it is: what are you listening to right now (or, if you're not listening to anything at the precise moment, what was the last thing you listened to?), and what do you like (dislike?) about it? Allow me t...

Like I have said before that, I did not create IMSLP so that people can take what they can and not care about the site afterwards. I created IMSLP to create a community of music lovers who are willing to promote the education and enjoyment of classical music, which we believe is an extremely wonder...

I don't mean to perform any thread necro or anything, but the comment about the opening of sections in other languages than English caught my attention. Though I speak English quite fluently, having lived in English-speaking countries half my life, my native language is French. Depending on how my e...

May I just ask what are your favorites in Mahler? Quite honestly, I have something of a weak spot for his 4th Symphony - who doesn't? - , and more specifically the Gielen version (as well as the Klemperer and Abbado ones), and I also like his lieder (Kindertoten / Rückert / Knaben Wunderhorn), espec...

Le Sacre du Printemps is nice enough, once you get used to it. I wouldn't exactly kill myself over it either, but I don't mind listening a bit to it every now and then. I'll have to agree, though, that Pierre Boulez and the Cleveland Orchestra version is a very good one. If you don't have it... well...

How many people here who like Chopin the 'best', are not pianists? Interesting question, heh. :P As far as I'm concerned, answering to a "Who is the greatest composer ever" question is as hard as "Who is my favourite composer" one. It just depends on what I'm feeling on a given ...
