Re: Why do I need to answer a captcha when logged in as a paying member?
I'm just an ordinary member, but I've never had to go through all that captcha stuff. Are you directly clicking on IMSLP.org?

Request to unlock: Magidson, Washington, & Cleary
There is already one item from this songwriting trio of Herb Magison, Ned Washington and Michael H. Cleary (although their pages are still locked). I want to upload their most famous creation (and one of the most famous songs of this era), Singin' in the Bathtub (copyright 1929, from the film The Sh...

To group or not to group
When I've come across stage musicals, I've always uploaded individual songs under the name of the musical (e.g. Bandanna Land https://imslp.org/wiki/Bandanna_Land_(Cook,_Will_Marion) , which had multiple creators). With the opening of 1929, sound film become more of an option. My personal feeling is...

Oscar Levant
I'd like to upload a song by Oscar Levant, copyright 1929, so it's now in the public domain in the U.S. where I reside. Can someone change his page to allow uploads to the PML-US server? (There will be more in coming years...)

Public Domain Day 2025
The Center for the Study of the Public Domain at Duke University promotes the public domain. Their current blog post provides examples of works that go into the public domain as of January 1, 2025 (scroll down to see a list of significant musical works): https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday...

Re: What category is this?
The French mis-en-scène is very much like the series of disposizione scenica that Ricordi issued (some of which have been reprinted).

What category is this?
I'm currently working on a scan of the "mise en scène" - that is, the original direction/blocking - for Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande that was published (without a copyright notice) in addition to the vocal score. It's rare to come across this and thus an intellectually valuable item. Und...

Re: How to modify the details of my upload ?
If you're using the classic skin that makes the site look like Wikipedia, it has a couple of differences from Wikipedia. When you're on a page for a work, go to the very top of the screen where the IMSLP logo is located. Next to that is the word Page . Click on that and you'll get a drop-down menu o...

Beethoven helper?
Upon opening IMSLP today, a thumbnail image of Beethoven popped up in the lower right hand side of my screen and kindly asked if I needed assistance. Initially he reminded me of Microsoft's Zippy, but once I read how kindly he worded his entreaty (which the real Beethoven probably would never have d...

Re: Import scans based on RISM?
(continuing) so if I search the composer Porpora and limit it to prints, and then select operas, this is my list of hits. You can clearly see which one contains a fully digitized score.

Import scans based on RISM?
I know IMSLP has projects devoted to harvesting scans from various places (e.g. Eastman/University of Rochester) for placement on IMSLP.
Is there such a project for all the scans one can discover through the RISM database? https://opac.rism.info/rism

The black crook
The black crook is often "cautiously" referred to as the first musical (see the Wikipedia article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Crook). The issue with it is that it was not only a collaborative work (we don't know all the composers) but it ran continuously for many years with ...
