Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

Eric: Cool! I didn't know that index existed. IMSLP Wiki for the win, again! However, from what I can see, that IMSLP wiki page is an index of links to the scanned volumes hosted at the Internet Archive, which are the same scanned volumes that I linked to directly. So this page does not constitute a...

Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

Is there a way to list scores which exist, are known of, entered the public domain on that date, but are not on IMSLP? I discovered a couple of ways to cross-check, one of which will require some effort. The Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL) has a Category:1923 works . It only has 4 entries, one ...

Re: MusicSack and MusicBrainz [was: Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?]

Musicsack is a fairly useful biographical database. Ah, I see. I think you mean http://musicsack.com/ . It says it is, "the biggest database of information about people involved in music". An impressive effort. It also looks like a solo effort by one Frank Green, and I don't see that the ...

Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

…for 50-pma and 70-pma jurisdictions, there is a similar question: how can I find out which scores on IMSLP entered the public domain for 50-pma and 70-pma jurisdictions on 1 Jan 2019?… I have not been able to find a category or similar index for "people who died in 1948" (whose work migh...

Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

What scores on IMSLP were not in the public domain in the USA in 2018, but entered the public domain on 1 Jan 2019? Is there a search of some kind where I can find such scores myself? One approximation of this is, "scores which were published in 1923". It turns out that IMSLP has categori...

Re: Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

....Basically I use various searches, Musicsack, etc. to find possible now-uploadable or status-changeable works and composers, myself... Could you tell us what those searches are, specifically? Recapping what the copyright rules are, is not so interesting. The rules are described in many places, e...

Search for newly-PD scores as of 1 Jan 2019?

Hello, all: As people have noted, in 2019 works entered the public domain in the USA for the first time in many years. Yay! I've got to imagine that some scores on IMSLP are included in that category. But I haven't found a way to search for them, and I haven't found a forum topic proudly listing all...

Composer birth-death years on work pages?

Hello, IMSLP developers: I have a simple feature request: on work pages, in the General Information section at the bottom, there is a line Composer . The composer's name is given like "Mascagni, Pietro". It would be nice to have birth-death years in parentheses after. The page I'm looking ...

Spelling error in IMSLP:Quick Guide to Score Submission

Hello, editors: There appears to be a spelling error in the wiki page IMSLP:Quick Guide to Score Submission . This being a wiki, I would fix it myself, but this page appears to be locked. I guess I'd better report it for someone else to fix. In the Quick Submission Steps section, item 5, towards the...

Re: Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

Thank you for the reply, Carolus. Your edits do make the various score submission instructions a bit more clear. Thank you for the pointer to Gory's work. One of the difficult parts of transcription is the sheer tedium of entering all the notes. Anytime someone has done that, and has licenced their ...

Re: Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

There are 4 results with "Only engraving files"... Perhaps either meets your needs? http://openmusicscore.org/ is MusicXML oriented. Sorry, I didn't mean to say I was opposed to making a PDF rendition of the scores we prepare. Of course we'll save as PDF. I take coulonnus' point that mayb...

Re: Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

Thanks, this is a very helpful clarification. I would like to help the next person by being sure I understand the rules, then by modifying the instructions to add these points. Should I just "be bold", as they say in Wikipedia, and edit the instructions to include these clarifications? Or ...

Guidelines for submitting digital scores (MusicXML, MEI) and notation program formats?

Hello, I'm embarked on a project of transcribing public-domain music scores into digital formats which are revisable, usable, and shareable — and then giving them away freely, with CC0 or CC-BY licensing. The project starts with IMSLP51456-PMLP01607-Beethoven_9.Symphonie_Breitkopf_Reinecke.pdf, and ...

Best way to add missing pages to score ("Ballo" IMSLP33966)?

Hello, I used IMSLP33966-PMLP34562-Verdi_-_Ballo_in_maschera_-_vocal_score.pdf to perform "Un ballo in maschera" a couple of years ago. I noticed some flaws with that edition: The score omitted 3 pages in one place, and 2 pages in another. The editor who uploaded IMSLP33966 filled in the 3...
