Re: Copyright review – how long does it take?

ScoreUpdater, Sallen112, other copyright reviewers — many thanks for the work you're doing! I understand it's a small team and you are getting absolutely hammered by the January excitement. An idea: if the expected review time is a week, might it make sense to update the message that users see when ...

Thanks, Sallen, I'll get access to the scores and try posting in the next few months.

Corporate authorship, 1957 arrangement, composer died 1905

Hi, I'm looking to check on the legal status of arrangements of two different pieces by a composer who died in 1905, Franz Strauss. Both works are originally for horn and orchestra and have been arranged for horn and piano. One arrangement is from 1937 with no arranger identified in the score. Anoth...

Joëlle, I'm not a copyright reviewer, but I may be able to help you with one thing you mentioned — the incorrect piece title. Can you please share a link to the page and explain what needs to be changed? Edit: I see Sallen112 already gave you this info on IMSLP itself: https://imslp.org/index.php?ti...

It looks like Messiaen's Category page is locked; there's no button for adding new works. Who can create a page for Le Banquet céleste?

Running out of file numbers for scores?

The files on IMSLP are currently given a unique number, six digits long. We have reached over 995 000, which means there are fewer than 5000 numbers before we get to seven digits. Just checking — is there a plan for handling this on the IMSLP infrastructure? Will anything break? Two things that come...

Re: Non-Public Domain sheet music sources?

This is a tough one! According to the back of a Naxos CD of Togni's music, his archive is kept in the Giorgio Cini Foundation: https://www.cini.it/en

I would suggest writing to the email of the foundation and seeing if anyone can help. Good luck! Would love to know how it goes, if you do pursue this.

Re: Canada is officially extending copyright protection from Life + 50 to 70

Thanks for staying on top of this. Happy that IMSLP is finding a way to allow users to submit works from composers who died after 1971. Hopefully contributors in life + 50 countries will be able to get us Duke Ellington and Shostakovich in a few years :D

OK, thanks for the update, Sallen! Is there somewhere I can find out about the new site — what's changing, any timelines for rolling it out, and so on?

Previews for scores not loading on work/collection pages

In Chrome on both desktop (Mac) and mobile, I've noticed that the previews for some recordings are appearing, but not for any scores. Screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/RvV1b6Z I see this bug both in the BootstrapMediaWiki skin and in the Vector skin. This bug is recent—I was seeing previews a we...

Hi! I'm just coming across this post. I'm a fellow contributor and not an admin, but I may be able to help. First, you'll need a correct copy of what you want to upload. Once you have that, go to this page: https://imslp.org/wiki/File:PMLP396443-BazziniSQ-6.pdf Then click on "Upload a new versi...

Just to be clear, you mean "earlier" in the places where you wrote "later", right? :)

Re: NAFTA negotiations could lead to stricter copyright rules in Canada

From all indications, I think they want to extend copyright in a non-retroactive way (this would mean the Stravinsky is still OK to copy), but it's definitely something we'll have to keep an eye on! I think the actual legislation will be in the Budget Implementation Act. I'll post here if I notice t...
