The funny thing in that question of languages, is that very often, when hearing a melody sung in another laguage, it sounds very much different... Schubert sung in French doesn't sound like Schubert, even when it is done with the greatest art (i.e. Ch. Panzera), and some Italian arie if one doesn't ...

Hi, there is "Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann" (1776-1822) who for some reason changed his last name (I'm sure just to mislay us!) into Amadeus, and so, today, it is E. T. A. Hoffmann. he was the novellist (Hoffmann's tales) from whom Offenbach took his libretto. But he was playing violin a...
