I found some information in Russian about Ganichev Sever'yan Nikolaevich.
Colonel Pavel Makarov, from 1972 to 1977 was a student of Lt.Col. Ganichev Sever'yan Nikolaevich... so, at least until 1977, he was alive.

I got some sheet music that I'd love to share with IMSLP, but I'm not sure about its status, you'll see: The composer (a very dark and almost unknown figure) died in the 17th century, so by definition, his work is in the public domain, but...
