Re: Arthur Jackson has incorrect years affecting copyright
Attached is a newspaper article from 1922 about his death. Other records databases might have more info about his life.

Re: Arthur Jackson has incorrect years affecting copyright
Someone that I reached out to managed to find out that Arthur Jackson died in 1922. If he was the only person keeping that work from being PD globally, then maybe we can change its copyright status.

Arthur Jackson has incorrect years affecting copyright
I was looking at this score: https://imslp.org/wiki/Idle_Dreams_(Gershwin,_George) which is listed PD USA-only. That may or may not be true, because the reason seems to be the lyricist, Arthur Jackson. The page lists him as living from 1911 to 1977, which implies that he was 9 years old when he coll...

Rhapsody in Blue modified piano solo (Wasserman)
Hi all, I have a high-quality scan of Herman Wasserman's modified version of Rhapsody in Blue for piano. A preview of the first page is attached showing copyright notices, and it is substantially the same as this edition available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2YFMPtT I'm trying to figure out whether i...

Re: Big SBB files
I have uploaded my version along with yours. My method is: pdftk to get rid of SBB's "introduction", "appendix" and "courtesy blank pages" :) and "burst" this big pdf into single-page pdf's. With Imagemagick: convert -density 400 page.pdf page.jpg With Irfanv...

Re: Paperless IMSLP hardware
Never heard of the Strad, but maybe that's because I live in Europe. ;-) I've found an article where musicians use a footswitch too together with the scores from IMSLP. Here it is: http://www.squidoo.com/footime-page-turner That's great. But you only get one page at a time. Maybe musicians will get...

Re: Paperless IMSLP hardware
I used to have a Tablet PC (Windows XP Tablet edition / Vista-compatible) for reading scores but using it was just awful. I'm now using an iPad with GoodReader. If you have an iPad, you're $5 is better spent on GoodReader, an all-purpose document reader, than most of these apps specifically for scor...

Re: Merging TIFF to PDF
Ah, there was a reason I wrote this stuff down. From http://imslp.org/wiki/User:Mazin07 : To convert a series of TIFF images, applying group4 compression and a fixed DPI, into one PDF document $ convert *.tiff -compress Group4 -density 300 MyNewDocument.pdf This is assuming that the TIFFs are alread...

Re: Scanning/PDF Guidelines
I would suggest asking (willing) experienced members to do the PDF conversion if it's just a few things. I for one would be happy to convert something to PDF provided the scans. It would be worth it to save future downloaders the trouble of downloading oversized poor-quality PDFs.

Re: Blank or non-functioning files?
This is going to seem stupidly simple, but I've done it on occasion, so make sure that the problem isn't that page 1 is blank for page turn reasons. Theoretically, odd-numbered pages are supposed to be right-side pages, and even-numbered pages are left-side pages. I've thought a document was blank ...

Re: DIY Book Scanner
I'm curious as to how your math works, horndude77. A 9x12 inch document @ 300dpi is 6.3 megapixels. I'm hoping to use Canon DSLRs for my book scanner, which start at 10MP.

Re: Splitt PDF page into 2 equal halfs
I'm trying out ScanTailor right now and it looks like a really slick product. Note that if your scans are always well-aligned when you scan them, then you can batch ImageMagick to do the split very quickly. ScanTailor's split processing seems to work pretty well too, and you can batch that as well.

Concerto grosso A minor for 2 violins and string orchestra
I came across a digitized score of Vivaldi's Concerto grosso A minor for 2 violins and string orchestra op. 3, no. 8 , with editing and foreword by one Dr. Alfred Einstein, in my school's music library. Edition Eulenburg, printed by Devoroux, no. 762. The date on the foreward is July 1932. Under cop...

Re: Considering other backends for IMSLP
We aren't Wikipedia. I think comparisons as such are frivolous. In fact, here's another collaborative database that is not a wiki: MusicBrainz, which I've probably had more experience with than IMSLP, actually.
Again, it might be easy for us to add data, but it is easy for us to retrieve?
