He's still in copyright in Canada where IMSLP's servers are hosted. The good news is he goes out of copyright in Canada in May this year (2011).

I was thinking it might be a good idea to go through some of the IMSLP vocal score files and create subset downloads for the famous/popular arias. I don't want to coordinate it, but it's been on my mind. My reasoning is it would save IMSLP $$ and bandwidth because many individuals downloading entire...

This seems to me to be very dangerous territory. The whole point of a library is to check out (and turn in, presumably) books - not charge for them. What is to prevent this from becoming a subscription service? Is there a mission statement, and, if so, does this venture actually fit into it? Why was...
