Hmm...I'm a bit confused then on the contents of the Malherbe/Weingartner edition, because although I've not personally seen them, Kalmus has reprinted this edition and the records I've seen indicates 25 volumes where vol.24 is Benvenuto Cellini. Looking at another record of the original printing by...

And so I take it that any scores published post-1982 would not be public domain in Germany according to Section 70? As I'm not familiar with the NBE project, was it completed before 1982? If not I would be more inclined to continue scanning and archiving the old Breitkopf edition in order to have a ...

Proposal for new project: Completion of Sibelius works list
I'd like to propose a new project for the contributors of IMSLP: the completion of the Sibelius works list to go live on the site when January 1st of next year rolls around. I was thinking something along the lines of each person who wishes to volunteer and has access to a library or other medium of...

Oh so you're one of the ones whose been snatching my scans and uploading them! :D A year or so ago I used to share out my whole collection (almost all of which were scans I made from my own or rented scores) on emule until something/someone happened which caused it to erase everything. Since then on...

Holst: Planets for solo piano?
Does anyone know of a complete arrangement of Holst's Planets for solo piano, much less one in PD?

Verify status of Czech publications
Carolus or someone else, if you have any free time (which I'm sure is scarce for you) could you check over my shoulder regarding the status of copyrights on Czech composer and Czech-published pieces? I understand only from the public domain page that government publications, such as those by Supraph...

Yes, quite. What I meant was if a clarification of this sort could be included on the public domain page here: http://imslp.org/wiki/Public_domain.

Clarification of first published copyrights on page
Would it be possible to better illustrate/explain first publication copyright by specifically giving a scenario such as even if a composer died more than 50 (or 70) years ago but the piece was first published less than 50 years ago it is still under copyright. After re-reading the explanation page o...
