Re: Recent Engravings of Old Editions?
Making an engraving with no editorial claims and no "originality" does not alter the copyright status of the manuscript. If the manuscript is in the public domain then so is the engraving. Even if the publisher claims a new copyright (which happens frequently), if upon comparison of the tw...

We're a little bit behind, but I've gone ahead and tagged this for you so it should now be available.

Re: "Free Recordings"
I'm sorry, the heading of "Free Recordings" cannot be changed, only the text which appears for the link. If you'd rather provide a link to an external recording another way you can use the {{YT}} template and put the link in the metadata for the work like in the "External Links" ...

Re: "Free Recordings"
Agreed. Although this is just default text which can be altered with additional contents in the template, the default is best to not state the word "Free".

Re: PML-Asia (Taiwan) launched
Looks like the upload form doesn't parse work titles that have special characters in the name, specifically double quotes. It throws a fatal error when trying to submit. Just FYI.

Re: Verification of PD-US status
I don't know. What does "assigned" mean in this context? Is it a factor in copyright determination or not?

Suggestions on the last piece here? Is "C" also the appropriate choice for tagging?

Re: Verification of PD-US status
There's another related situation with Atterberg's Sinfonia per archi, Op. 53 . It was published by Atterberg himself (registered with the US copyright office on 11 April 1958, reg. no. EU522601) and then, according to the score, "assigned 1960 to E. Eulenburg, London." A search of the onl...

Re: Verification of PD-US status
The complication here is the initial publication occurred in '37 (with a valid registration) and the miniature score occurred later (my assumption), so I don't know how this factors into the decision. There was no renewal for the '37 publication that I can find.

Verification of PD-US status
Kurt Atterberg's Ballade und Passacaglia, Op. 38 was published in 1937 by Eulenburg plate 5693. It was subsequently miniaturized and issued through their "Eulenburg Miniature Scores" division out of New York and given catalog number 883 and a new plate number 5804. When it was miniaturized...

Re: Submitting typeset for existing scan using Performance Restricted Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives 1.0
Got it, I understand we will not grandfather such pieces in. But that aside, and out of my curiosity and for my own education, are you able to point to any authoritative sources or any documentation which support the claims you're making? Any prior precedent in which a typeset, made with permission,...

Re: Submitting typeset for existing scan using Performance Restricted Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives 1.0
Ok, I understand. But would we not consider that a typeset of a preexisting piece which has already been licensed in this manner would be grandfathered in? Submitting new pieces of music is well understood that that ability has been deprecated and removed. Is this a derivative? No, it is not an edit...
