Operas of Giovanni Pacini

Giovanni Pacini was one of the most important, popular, prolific and widely performed composers of operas in Italy in the first half of the 19th Century. His greatest success was probably Saffo. Today he is virtually forgotten and almost never performed. IMSLP has three dozen of his operas -- but th...

Jean-Baptiste Accolay

Program notes on Perlman's recording of Accolay's student Violin Concerto in A minor state Accolay wrote 7 works. IMSLP has two. The other five might be interesting to exhume.

SOPA & IMSLP

How might the proposed law known as SOPA affect IMSLP or its non-affiliated affiliates (such as IMSLP-EU)? Should IMSLP (and Wikipedia) join the growing list of protesters opposing passage of this bill? IMSLP is not a rogue site -- but could it become an innocent victim to these new powers granted t...

Re: The devine and illusive Louis Spohr

Spohr's symphonies are indeed little-known. However, his violin concertos have all been recorded by Ulf Hoelscher and the Berlin Radio Symphony. What is curious, to my mind, where are the orchestral scores for these violin concertos? There are none on IMSLP. Who publishes the full scores or rents th...

Re: Seeking author/score for reduction of Liebestod

Surely, Jen_alyce, you didn't listen to Homer's MP3 from start to finish before submitting your answer. Wagner never touched this dreck -- replete with Liebstod à la Foxtrot and a Hollywood piano concerto treatment of the interminable crescendo. Particularly repulsive are the double octaves in the s...

Editing a comment on a score I just uploaded

I just uploaded a scan of Beethoven's manuscript for his Piano Sonata No. 23; but no sooner had I done so, I found an error in a comment that I made, attached to the score. I tried to send another upload of the score with the comment corrected, but IMSLP refused to accept the second upload. So, to w...

Rafaelle GALLI

Rafaelle Galli was a 19th C. flute virtuoso and prolific composer. In addition to his original compositions for flute and piano, I am also interested in obtaining his many operatic fantaisies for flute and piano, on operas by Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, etc. According to OPAC/SBN, published ...

Petrucci's Capitals

This is a request not for a new feature on IMSLP -- but for a new font. I am very impressed with the several upper case letters now displayed on IMSLP and greeting cards, realized from Petrucci's engravings. I, for one, would like to have a Petrucci font for a complete set of characters -- and by th...

Re: Dohler, Theodor

The more Dohler, the better. Evidently, he was a piano virtuoso to rival Liszt. And like Alkan, he wrote a gigantic set of 12 piano etudes of astounding difficulty. The piano etudes should also make their way onto IMSLP. He died rather young after marrying into the aristocracy.

Missing Intermezzo from Bruckner's String Quintet

While I am grateful to Generoso for uploading Bruckner's magnificent String Quintet WAB 112 in the 1913 Eulenberg Edition, I would welcome the addition of the missing Intermezzo. When Bruckner composed this work, it was premiered in 1881 in a three movement version. Several years later, Bruckner add...

Re: Permission to make an annoucement on the Forum

Many thanks to Carolus and IMSLP (Feldmahler) for the encourging responses. If you can set up a page for each such work on your site, it's simple enough for us to make an external link template to instantly transport someone interested in parts for some score on the wiki. It would not be a problem f...
