Over 2500 Composers Represented on PML

I don't know if anyone has else been watching this statistic, but I have been waiting for the Petrucci Music Library to represent 2500 composers, and it finally has. Overnight the count finally shot above this incredible landmark number. Congratulations! It really shows the breadth of the library no...

Re: Favicon

A logo for a website would be effective if it was a simple shape or combination of shapes. That way it could be used in a variety of spaces, suggested projects etc... I've been thinking about this one for a while. If IMSLP continues to the transition to the "Petrucci Music Library" then pe...

Re: Genre categories. Your views wanted!

No matter how many fields it covers, is it possible to have the descriptions given in the left of the chart as hover-over text? Also I like the teaching methods category, because they don't really belong as just texts. It could cover all instruments and levels, but it's better for a method to go in ...

Re: piano

I would seriously look into 'Step by Step' beginner method designed by Edna Mae Burnam, by Willis Publishing. It is one of my favourite beginner piano methods that can be used even if you're not a beginner because it has the student begin playing hands together almost immediately. Have a look into i...

Re: Bach - WTC I&II parts 13-24 missing

Book 1, 13-24

Book 2, 13-24

They were seperated from the first twelve of each book to keep the page size down, but they're in the alphabetical listing of works, side by side.

Re: Genre categories. Your views wanted!

Perhaps it would be smart, no matter what general form and specifics are decided upon to have these categories link to a page with information on each. Seeing as the wiki page automatically includes the links to the genres at the bottom of the page, having the genre name in the information 'box' cou...

Information at head of page

Its been mentioned before, but having the Information section, especially with its reworking in terms of size (and eliminating unentered fields), would be a great idea. Not only is it good to have at the top of the page to get information on an unfamiliar piece, but it's also good for general knowle...

Re: More obvious download button

i can create the down arrow for the download as an image. would you just want it to be a simple square icon? Or something more elaborate? Here is a simple mockup arrow I made that could be simply embedded into every page next to the description title of each file. http://imslp.org/images/7/7e/Downlo...

Maybe if you mentioned where you were located someone could get a better idea of the postage costs and you would receive more interest.

(Are you located in Canada?)

Can you give some examples of what is contained in these volumes? They sound intriguing.

What of the great composers whose famous works are still in copyright? Well they wouldn't be on IMSLP anyways. I was thinking of this feature a while back. I think the right concept is stated in this thread, but I was thinking perhaps it could be done for composers with x amount of scores, or by th...

Advanced theory, um. I love the Materials of Western Music books by Molly Sclater and William G. Andrews. They correspond as parts 1, 2, and 3. The range from basic harmony to advanced. Part 3 has an analysis section, covering lieder, fugues and sonatas. (mainly). And there is a separate counterpoin...

The Public Domain information page

Hi there. I was browsing the IMSLP public domain information page and noticed that everything was set to _ _ _ 7 (as in the year) for entering public domain. For instance, Works that are copyrighted in Canada are those where the composer died after 1957. From my knowledge, composers enter the public...

I remember way back in September or October, there was large discussion about preparing works that would come into public domain on January 1st, 2008. This never really happened because of the take-down, however not that a date has been set for the return of IMSLP, perhaps we could start a recollect...

1000 Composers

I just wanted to take this opportunity to point out that IMSLP now has music by 1000 different composers in it's library. That's pretty exciting, if you ask me!
