Re: New Main Page full redesign project
Let's first reach some sort of general agreement that this is the design we want. While I am in favor of it's complete freshness, other users may not be. One thing I hate is the blob of bright grey paint on the left hand corner. I'd prefer some sort of musical symbol on both sides, perhaps. Expandab...

Re: George Szell
It just happens that I was listening to his recording of the Brahms 3rd symphony from 1950 last night, and I recall liking almost even more than Frederick Stock's version. Sometimes I think that Szell has some balance problems and I'm not always a fan of his tempo choices. However, overall I was ver...

Re: Revueltas
I also want to mention my opinion that this should not be a static permanent numbering system yet. There are a few arrangements that need to be added. There is also a possibility of tracking down another piece. I think it could sit a couple weeks while we try to gather more information. Declaiming S...

Revueltas
Hi all, I recently finished a sortable list of works by Revueltas. It can be found here: http://imslp.org/wiki/Sortable_list_of_works_by_Silvestre_Revueltas I'm bringing this up because I used the "R." number for categorizing, which did not previously exist. There is no official cataloging...

The person to get in contact with would be Feldmahler. He is the project leader of IMSLP.

Re: Main Page graphic re-design
Dear icactus, We appreciate your work with the main page as it has been a topic of controversy in the past. I had previously designed a second main page, and a bit of drama went on behind closed doors over its "1990's" design. The chief problem with the main page right now is the balance b...

Re: Updates
You're refined opinion is more in line with the general intention of the intermediate admin group. Admins are, in my humble opinion, 'representatives' of the site, so the premise of having the intermediate group be for people who simply deserve higher rights, but are not symbolic representatives of ...

Re: Forum Rules
My opinion is that it's not worth hedging over yet. I think we all need to keep in mind that a forum without some controversy is a dead forum. It's bad enough that our forum is beginning to die lately as a result of loss of interest, but to censor things will only make it worse.

Re: Forum Rules
@PML - I guess you take this issue lightheartedly, and that's your right to do so. However, I'm a bit awestruck that you would blatantly swear to seemingly mock this topic. I agree that people can be obscene without using any swear words, but why does that mean that we should allow them? They are st...

Forum Rules
It has recently occurred to me that even though the forum rules say not to use any language "we find obscene", I think it's ambiguous and unenforced. I've noticed a small influx of swear words on the public forums - even by members of our own administration, which contradicts the we part o...

Re: Stravinsky
Interestingly enough I found excellent resources in the WIkipedia pages in every language except English! I also ended up finding this website, which is incredibly useful:

Re: Embedding youtube?
Yes, of course they can be under a creative commons license. If it's your own work, feel free to upload it :) I was only worried that maybe you were interested in uploading performances of works written by composers already in the public domain, in which case the performances would most likely be co...

Re: Embedding youtube?
You can upload videos, but not from Youtube. That requires a special extension which we don't have. Also, it's important to make sure the Youtube video is actually public domain. In many cases the videos are clear copyright violations.

Re: Youtube
I have some interesting stuff to post I suppose: 1. Here is a performance of Also Sprach Zarathustra by the Swedish Child Orchestra. I don't think anyone can comprehend how good this performance is until they hear it. It's like nothing else  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5umEUBDXfU0 A few othe...

Re: Updates
The intention is not so much to give them the right as it create a "half admin" group. Perhaps we can call this usergroup the "patrol" group, or something along these lines. I think the most practical right to give them would be the ability to delete pages. We can see how they op...
