Carolus wrote: There have been rumors they (Dover) are planning to drop that division, or at least cut back on new offerings.
That would be bad news indeed. Almost all of the scores that I bought were published by Dover.

Oh I can play back the whole of the 1st movement of Eroica and the 5th symphony and the final movement of the 9th Symphony by Beethoven in my head anytime of the day.

Is there a performance where the hammer blows are meant to be sounded by striking an anvil with a hammer, as Mahler originally conceived it?

Hmm, not to me though. I can listen to the whole Emperor concerto the whole day without getting bored. And if I follow the score (which I have), I always find new things which I never noticed before.

Although slightly off topic, I'd like to think that Beethoven's death in 1827 ended the Classical period the heralded the start of the early Romantic period. However, just like the transition from Old to Middle to Modern English, I believe the transition is not clear cut and abrupt, maybe happening ...

This is a tough one. I can't even find it in my Grove dictionary and some online websites that lists out classical music composers like www.classical.net

I'm now listening to Scheherazade and Capriccio Espagnol, both by Rimsky-Korsakov. Great masterpieces of orchestration.

Well the Four Seasons are the obvious favorites for me in Vivaldi's Op. 8 but the other concertos are also very good, especially the ones with titles like No. 5 (The Storm at Sea), No. 6 (Pleasure) and No. 10 (The Hunt).

http://opinion.latimes.com/bitplayer/2008/04/judge-rejects-c.html If anyone is interested. While this is indeed good news as far as file sharing is concerned, I'm treading this with cautioned optimism. Yagan, what do you suppose changed the judge's mind? It can't be as simple as discrepancies betwe...

If you are referring to Edward MacDowell, Dover Publications has published a full orchestral score of his first and second piano concertos:

It may not be the piano reduction you're looking for, but at less than US$20 I think it's a bargain.

Great to hear that IMSLP is going to back online. That means I'll have to start scanning again and also replace some existing ones I uploaded earlier with better quality ones.
Yagan, would it be better to have 3 types of copyright laws be applied in IMSLP ie. US, Canada and EU?

Hmm, I also thought the "Kiev" edition and the Muzika (Dover/Kalmus reprint) were the same since both have the same layout and the number of pages. However, even though both are different editions, the fact that the score layout for both is so similar implies that both are from the same so...
