Hi ArticWind7, so that means that for the US server, IMSLP will definitely be under Gutenberg?

Yes, and not forgetting Edwin F. Kalmus whose sheet music collection consists mainly of PD music works.
However, sheetmusicplus do sell music that is still copyrighted, for example music published by Boosey & Hawkes, Schott and Baerenreiter Verlag.

free-scores.com is virtually a mirror site for IMSLP before it when down as it imported many scores found in IMSLP into its collection.

Correction. Since the Rigoletto critical edition by Casa Ricordi was first published in 1983, it would be in PD on 1st January 2009 according to the publication+25 year rule IMSLP will adopt for these kinds of editions.

Are you sure that people without google account cannot become a member of such an email list? I am a member of a yahoo group without having a yahoo email address. Maybe the general terms and conditions changed? You're right. I'm unsure about this one since I haven't tried it before. But since emera...

Hi armandine2, Have you asked your university library the reasons it is prohibiting the downloading of the Sibelius plug in? I imagine being a university library it has to install plug ins like Acrobat Reader and Flash for us to access journals and multimedia materials (well at least my university l...

Hi, you mean composing in short score, where a composer puts in the essential details of orchestration and leave out the less important ones? I recall Mahler composed some of his symphonies in short score, his unfinished 10th being one.

Hi emeraldimp, Yes, I see your point. One thing I'm concerned is, while they can't restrict us on what we do to the scores once we purchased them, which could be distributing them for free because they are in the first place, I'm worried about what legal action they can take (if there are any lawyer...

The only problem I forsee is that these groups cannot be accessed by people who do not have a google or Yahoo account (like me). But that's a minor problem, just create a new google or Yahoo account :)
This sounds like a good idea by the minute.

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but if the new IMSLP (US branch) will be under Gutenburg, does that mean that the Gutenburg server will host IMSLP (US), and does the domain name of IMSLP need to be changed?

To be honest, I do think that sheetmusicarchives.com should not charge a subscription fee for the public to access sheet music that is already in the public domain. What is free should remain free.

I think Feldmahler (the IMSLP admin) will still host the IMSLP on a Canadian server though.

So you mean that even though a different person (the orchestrator) might help with the composer by copying and filling up the score, the main credit would still have to go to the composer, in this case John Williams? I feel some sympathy for those orchestrators whose names are not credited in the mo...
