I stand corrected. I somehow got the impression that Williams composed Star Wars all by himself. However, Sheet Music Plus does state that John Williams in the composer, and it did not state any other composer in the entry of the full score and parts for Star Wars, although this does not necessarily...

The other option, of course, is to purchase the full orchestral score of Star Wars itself. I think Sheet Music Plus does sell them. You get the real deal here, as the orchestral score has the original orchestration written by John Williams himself. However, this is going to cost you a lot of money t...

Hi Carolus, Another similar case appears to be the Schubert manuscripts, sketches and letters that are being scanned and offered for sale: http://www.schubert-online.at/activpage/index_en.htm Pleaes correct me if I'm wrong, but is it safe to say that these manuscripts are out of copyright and hence ...

If these Schubert autograph manuscripts, sketches and letters are out of copyright, shouldn't they be PD and be free of charge? Granted, each page is scanned and perhaps digitally enhanced and service and labour charges are applied. But for 8 euros per page? And at only 300dpi? The same thing occure...

Hmm, if these chamber music pieces are really out of print and out of copyright, then they should be PD in Canada and free of charge as well. However, I do suppose they (Library of Cobbett Association) has a right to charge a fee for providing the service (much like Dover reprinting out of print sco...

The Choral Public Domain Library also uses the Mediawiki software if I'm not mistaken. You can take a look at the main page. Although there are obvious differences page layout and such, it is essentially the same as IMSLP.

To Macula, Carolus is also implying that no matter the age or copyright status of a sheet music, there will always be somebody out there trying to claim copyright to it and hence claim royalty for its publication or performance. For example, a person may claim copyright to a Gregorian Chant piece th...

Carolus is correct. I happen to know this information as well from the Kalmus editor who is supervising the edition of the new engraved full score of Swan Lake. He also expressed his surprise that Kalmus chose to reprint the 1892 Jurgenson score of Nutcracker instead of the 1950s Muzyka score. The m...

I'm especially excited about the Le Nozze di Figaro fascimile. Only drawback is I have to cough up some 200 US dollars :) On another note, I would like to ask about the copyright status of these autograph mauscripts. Do these autographs belong to somebody or an entity like the Prussian State Library...
