That's interesting. Can I please ask, your attempt to get the recordings after some 40 tries is before or after the site when down for construction (or maybe in this case permanent shutdown)?

I personally think that there is a distinction between a wiki admin and a forum admin. Meaning that it might be better if these positions are different and held by two different people. Of course, a person that holds both positions will be most advantageous as well. The person not only has ample cop...

Please don't hate me for this, but the debate regarding who is the greatest composer of all time will rage on and on until the end of time as the topic is very subjective and everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Personally though, I regard Mozart as the greatest composer of all time.

Oh no. That would probably mean the site reconstruction is temporary on hold, or worse, permanently halted. If it is the latter, it's a shame as the site had some good recordings which are PD.

Hi ArticWind7. I really don't mean to offend you. Anyway, I would think even wiki admins would have some trouble memorizing or understanding all copyright laws right off their heads.

Just because ArticWind7 is an admin doesn't necessarily mean he knows every copyright law (and my mean that in a nice way). Anyway, this issue was brought up some time ago: http://imslpforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=42 According to Feldmahler, the copyright term under Canadian law for recordings is reco...

To Carolus,
Hi, I am confident that the current Kalmus and Eulenburg editions of the Sleeping Beauty are reprints of the Muzyka edition issued about 50 years ago.

The link to Elgar's Introduction and Allegro for Strings on Google seems to be broken. Anyway, the lawsuit (and subsequent out of court settlement) on Google only reinforces my notion that these music publishers only go for the small and defenseless entities like IMSLP which does not have the financ...

Funny that the post veered off topic. For the music discussions, in addition to this forum, is it a good idea to link to other forums as well which are related, for example the Mozart forum and the CPDL forum?

Agreed. In this case we don't have to worry about that particular publisher from Vienna because these Ricordi critical editions of Verdi operas aren't published by them. Besides, even if IMSLP voluntarily imposed a 25 year copyright protection, the Rigoletto opera I was talking about would still be ...

Hi aslsp-fi, Thank you for your extensive information regarding the copyright of the critical Verdi editions. Regarding the Puccini critical scores, would you say that the original Ricordi editions published in Puccini's lifetime are better than the current critical Ricordi editons? I happen to have...
