credible orchestration for Die Fledermaus on the internet?

Hey everyone! I am a young accompanist and conductor. I am going to be conducting Die Fledermaus later this year, and it will be my first experience with a fully professional opera production company. We are using a reduced pit of string quintet (vn1,vn2,va,vc,db) and piano. I will be conducting fro...

You guys rock!!!! LOL however, time was of the essence so I broke down and bought it; I have to arrange for a small orchestra with some unique instrumentation. I found out that Schirmer doesn't publish the full score, but Ricordi does, and they are both owned by Hal-Leonard, so I think that everythi...

Right now I'm music directing Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd" for a theatre in Florida, US. And damn, you should see what that sadist wrote for both the soprano AND tenor choral parts.

I'm not sure. It's a high C. One high C a night wouldn't kill you, I would think.

Well, I think that's theren't not much operatic influence on the regular arias/numbers of the show (except for the Think of Me cadenza), but definitely a lot of the transition / background music is operatic in nature. The only way I would have to really describe the main vocal numbers is "Andre...

Am I lame because I like J.W. Hassler?

So yeah; do you know how hard it is to find extensive information about that dude? I can nowhere locate a works list or decent bio. All I know is that I love that Sonata in the Dover "Rare Russian Masterpieces" piano book (does anyone know what I'm talking about), and the Grand Gigue. I ca...

That's funny; I can't stand playing the second movement of the Pathetique too slowly. Even though it's a beautiful melody, I still find myself wanting to fall asleep. I like to think that I don't speed it up TOO much, and I still keep it tasteful though. I always use the Pathetique first movement as...

Funny you should mention Final Fantasy. I am a HUGE fan of the music from the SNES & early playstation Final Fantasy games. Though part of my devotion could be quite accurately attributed to my sense of nostalgia when I play music from games which I enjoyed when I was younger, I know that for me...

That sounds like what I'm going for (Lilypond). The majority of typesetting I will be doing will be arranging original musical theatre scores. I don't mind a learning curve; any of these programs will take getting used to, but I want to be able to type quickly eventually. (I'm a ninja with Noteworth...

typesetting programs

Heyo!

Does anyone have a recommendation on the best typesetting program to use? I am looking for something with plenty of keyboard shortcuts, but with the capabilities of using modern notations (spoken-notes, glissandos, etc). Sibelius, Finale, Lilypond...?

Heyo! I'm glad to see IMSLP has a projected date to restart. I had only used the site for a few months before the fiasco. I have a lot of scans I would like to contribute once it gets started again! Any word on if there will be a way to make donations via Paypal? I'd totally help out with hosting co...
