Re: Ever considered paid subscriptions for copyrighted score
Spotify can deal with record labels that have far more reach than any music publishing house, and so far it seems that when they've dealt with independent labels, they've been insanely cheap. Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported in 2009 that record label Junior Racing had only earned NOK 19 ($3.00...

Don't know how to title this work
http://hdl.handle.net/1802/6234 The pieces, chants, Te Deum, Benedictus, responses, Litany, Kyrie eleison, Nicene creed, Sanctus, Gloria in excelsis, Magnificat, and Nunc dimittis, as set to music by Thomas Tallis, the organ part added by Vincent Novello. It's just what it sounds like: religious tex...

Re: Ever considered paid subscriptions for copyrighted score
It's an interesting concept, but I see potential pitfalls. I somehow doubt the publishers would allow IMSLP to let you download the files, only view them (a la ScoreExchange), and at that point, is it a service worth paying for?

Re: New public domain works
Okay. The project's website essentially says, "Here is the printed music. Perform it, record a video for YouTube, whatever, but we'd like a link back to us, and we'd like to know about the performance or recording just because. Also, here are files for Sibelius and Finale in case you want to al...

Re: New public domain works
So, even if it's not specifically what the composer asked, is it then acceptable to upload the piece with a CC license? I'm fine with that. I just want to make sure we're doing the right thing both legally and by respecting the composer's wishes. Here is a direct quote: "A Song For Japan" ...

New public domain works
I searched the forum and the wiki and was unable to come up with an answer to this. The Belgian composer Steven Verhelst is allowing us to mirror his "A Song for Japan" as public domain. It's a wonderful piece and there are multiple arrangements available. I want to upload these in such a ...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
a little late to the party... I finally decided to order the mug/t shirt combo, but then I saw that shipping to the US would equal the purchase price! Is there anywhere I can buy them in the US or anyone that has extras and could ship them to me? Likewise! I was about to buy the combo until I reali...

Re: Alexandr Kobylianskii
Argh! I tried every transliteration I could think of, but Kobylyansky wasn't one of them. I suppose that's the problem when you learn the Cyrillic alphabet by researching Russian hockey jerseys. Thanks, guys!

Alexandr Kobylianskii
This isn't going to be easy. Kobylianskii (or Kobyliansky in some places) was a little known composer in pre-Bolshevik Russia. It seems he wrote a sonata and passed into obscurity around the time of the Revolution according to this PDF . In all likelihood, he died before 1960, but I don't know if we...

Re: Sibley Project List of remaining links
icactus, a number of the restricted files may not be able to be unlocked for copyright reasons, but would be perfectly fine in Canada. In that case, we're going to have to work together with them to find a workaround for how to get the files to a Canadian so they can upload legally.

Re: Sibley Project List of remaining links
I've been in contact with Jim Farrington and Alice Carli at the Sibley library, and we're trying to work on a way to take care of the files listed as restricted access. Some of them are that way in error because of a glitch on their end, but they can't easily find them, and it hadn't occurred to the...
