Re: Debussy list of works page is really messed up

I still wonder where the source for calling the second version of the catalog "CD" is. Before a certain vandal changed it on Wikipedia (long since gone thankfully), I'd always seen L also used, including in the complete works boxset on Warner, which one would think would be a much better a...

Why would C-sharp be wrong in B major?

Re: new Köchel

The problem is that the more time goes on the more is discovered as to when pieces were actually written so you get more and more convoluted trying to renumber things. The solution they arrived at was a compromise toward simplicity mixed with comfort. That said it's still pretty inconsistent in what...

Re: Tchaikovsky's romances for voice nowhere to bé found

For Tchaikovsky, I suggest using this site which will tell you exactly what the intended instrumentation is for a work, regardless of what was published. It's probably the most comprehensive and researched composer focused site out there

I'm sure they simply thought it was a typo.

Re: Possible to recover Page 1 of Scott Joplin's "A Guest of Honor" deleted in 2011?

I wonder where the original user got it from. I mean, it's supposed to be completely lost so where did that page come from? Why is this not anywhere else that it can't be reuploaded?

Re: Ravel Mother Goose wrong Opus number

I wouldn't necessarily trust that Wikipedia list. IIRC its current form was done by someone who tended to just make their own info. The list on here is likely more accurate: https://imslp.org/wiki/List_of_works_by_Maurice_Ravel That said, yeah it's wrong, and Ma Mere L'Oye should for sure be 60....t...

If something is in the public domain, and this is, then any 'policies' they might have are irrelevant. You're completely free to scan and upload it.

Re: Koussevitzky?

Well first off, the 70 year rule is for some countries. Others, including Canada where IMSLP is hosted, are 50. So if it's been 70 then it should have been PD as far as IMSLP is concered since the beginning. The 1926 publishing rule (or that is to say, 95 years ago) is for USA only, and death date d...

I just checked and the box set they released back in 2011 also has Hexameron as a and Pathetique as b.
So yeah, that seems to be correct.

Re: Beethoen Romance no. 2 etude practice

Beethoven wrote two completed works called "Romance", both are for violin and orchestra. Not sure where you get the idea that he wrote 'several pieces' under that title. (There is a third violin and orchestra one that's lost, and a fragment of a multi-concerto.....so even then there should...

Re: Stravinsky - Rite of Spring Manuscripts

The fact they 'intended to make profit on it' has no bearing on if something is PD or not. The beauty of PD is that ANYONE is allowed to profit off it.
