But what annoyed me was the apparent change of focus...after being geared up to expect an event of cultural and musical diversity, all of a sudden it was not about the art song genre or the music, but about a particular language. Aldona I would have been bothered by that as well. I am a firm believ...

The Dover edition is pretty cheap, if you want a hardcopy. ... Granted, it's not free, but for such largely orchestrated music, it's often hard to follow on a screen, IMO. I have Dover reprints of other things, and they are well worth the money!! Even if you found it free online, it would cost time...

Referring to transposing a song though. It would be easy for a singer to transpose a step or two for convenience, but for the piano player, would it mean that the entire piano part has to be rewritten or transposed for the new key, or can good piano players do that at once? For singers like me who ...

My friends who try to sing while I'm accompanying just read off the score, but then we're just amateurs. I don't know what real proper singers do. Typically they learn of that, but never read off anything for a performance. Pretty much the only thing that a singer is allowed to read off is sacred m...

What type of music are you interested in discussing? I know of a few email lists. Newsgroups are not ...

Actually, it's libel: slander is verbal, not written.Leonard Vertighel wrote:* The category "Non-Public Domain Composers" contains composers who agreed to publish their music for free under a Creative Commons license. Connecting this to any (actual or alleged) copyright violations is pure malicious slander.

I would love to see links to things like facsimile reprints, critical editions and recordings - even if some could see it as advertising, it would be useful additional resources to anyone interested in studying the music. (I started out singing in a church choir, which I still do, and wanted to lear...
