Appeal for Help with Sibley Project

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I was told they would still continue scanning things from the vault now that their major funding is over but it would be at a much much slower pace.
Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I was curious in helping out with this but right now I am very busy working on my own scanning projects ATM and really cannot get to this right now. But curious approximately or exactly around how many links left do we have to mirror and look over now from this posting?

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Perhaps Sibley's head librarian would be open to scan-on-demand? Then I could mirror my own requests.
BTW I'm a former member of WIMA and Sibley projects.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
My colleagues at UR outside of Sibley have not chosen to systematically digitize their PD works. Much of that material, given the nature of their collection, is available through Google Books. There are still any number of things in Sibley's collections that we were not able to get to as part of the grant-funded digitization projects, primarily books and treatises. We still can do them on an as needed basis, assuming they aren't available digitally elsewhere.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Then to whom may I send my few scanning requests? I'll welcome a reply such as "already scanned at http://etc ".

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I'm getting the following error message when trying to upload a arrangement:
Error: This type of upload is only permitted in an "Add Scan" submission.
This doesn't appear to be a constant error as I was able to upload: https://imslp.org/wiki/%C3%89tude_m%C3% ... 2C_Pierre) using http://hdl.handle.net/1802/3522 (after suffering from the same error message, at one point, it allowed it...)
Yet, trying to upload another arrangement: https://imslp.org/wiki/Lyric_Pieces,_Op ... g,_Edvard) using http://hdl.handle.net/1802/3524 I don't have the same luck.
Can someone amend the permissions?
Also, it may be a good idea to update the https://imslp.org/wiki/IMSLP:Sibley_Mir ... alkthrough accordingly.
Thank you

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
For what it's worth, the method of adding a new scan by dragging the "cite" URL onto the new scan dialog as per IMSLP:AddFile doesn't seem to work anymore. It times out with the following error:
Error: Sibley page download failure, error #28.

Realize this is a response to a 11-year-old comment but you and your colleagues at Sibley are much better at scanning than Google...

It's great to see this is still going on! The power of institutions!

And the only library in https://imslp.org/wiki/IMSLP:Universities_and_Libraries whose images don't require a huge job to provide a decent pdf!

And you are much better at scanning than many enthousiasts who scan e.g. https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Scores_ ... _of_London

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Thanks for keeping this project organized, I’d like to help out with mirroring, especially with the PD-everywhere files. I think a small group of dedicated contributors could really make a dent in the backlog if we coordinate and avoid uploading editions already present on IMSLP. Also, an automated way to flag “restricted access” or withdrawn links would save a lot of time and reduce duplicate work. I’m happy to start going through some of the untagged links and check their PD status.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
It's all still there to finish up. It's just that nobody has responded to my question about the uploads being broken. Are admins still paying attention to this forum?coleanderson wrote: ↑Fri Nov 21, 2025 10:27 am Thanks for keeping this project organized, I’d like to help out with mirroring, especially with the PD-everywhere files.
