Wozzeck in the US

Post by musicologyman »

Is Wozzeck now in the public domain in the US? I believe that the current UE score was edited and published in the early 1960s, but before that there was a version produced by an autographer (Years ago, I saw this edition at the NY Public Library). Might this edition at least be in the public domain?

The first, un-revised edition of the full score is public domain in Canada and the EU (not the US), but no copies of the vocal score are free.

When will The revised score and any vocal score become public domain?

Vocal score: 2028 (Canada); 2073 (US); 2048 (EU)
Full score, revised: 2023 (Canada); 2068 (US); 2043 (EU)

The rev. ed. full score might even be copyright longer unless the translation by Vida Harford (1907-1992) is redacted.

Those seem not long. Calculated from publication or Apostel's date of death?
