Translator: Tom Hammond?

Post by goldberg988 »

I have a vocal score of Giordano's ANDREA CHENIER I would like to upload, it has an English translation by "Tom Hammond" and I can find no information about him.
The edition is a reprint (by Well-Tempered Press) of (I think) a Sonzogno edition: https://search.worldcat.org/title/1298802287 although the engraving looks like Ricordi to me!
So since it's been reprinted here in the US (and also by Kalmus) I think it must at least be PD-US, but perhaps it might also be PD elsewhere.
It is a much clearer edition than what is currently on IMSLP.
Thanks for any help

Nope looks like Tom Hammond died after 1971 see here, which means if the edition was not simultaneously published with the USA within 30 days (meaning it has a USA city posted as one of the cites internationally speaking) since its published in 1959, then its URAA protected as a foreign work, meaning the copyright is restored and protected for 95 years now.
