Hi,
I got some scores marked as TB. even it seems to meet the PD criteria.
Can you explain what it wrong.

e.g.
De Crescenzo, Prima Carezza, Ricordi 1957

De Crescenzo died in 1911, so all his pieces are PD
Prima carezza was first published around 1901
Ricordi published it in 1957.

Similarly other composers from the same book: Celani, Denza, Galos, Yradier
by the way the pieces in this collection have different engraving styles. It seems a collection put togehter from different sources.

PS. Would be an options to put a note in the "discussion" page when copyright concerns are raised. In my opinion this could be also a way to educate the contributors on copyright.

Is it a reprint or something? It doesn't seem "urtext-worthy" and Ricordi renewed EVERYTHING.

The copyright claim (which appears on each title) lacks a date. For a 1957 claim, that's a fatal error in the USA. These appear to be selections from a piano collection. They're probably just re-engravings of public domain versions of the original items. I changed the USA tag to "C".

I had the same impression. The print is quite low quality to be 1957. It seems they put together plates from different engravers.
I have difficulties to find the publication dates of Ricordi. In all new book they omit them!

What about Perotinus?

The Perotinus is a 1930 issue from Universal Edition, with a fully compliant copyright notice. Unless - by some miracle - UE failed to file a renewal in 1958, it will be officially protected in the USA until 2026. If a US court case should somehow surface in the meantime declaring critical editions of this nature public domain due to failure to meet the "threshold of originality", we'll re-tag it accordingly. Sad to say, it's in [TB] jail until further notice.

Of course, with Perotin, it's almost a transcription anyways, and there is a minute possibility of UE coming back...

If I’m feeling particularly good I’ll make a typeset of a score in my possession to go with my typeset of Pérotin’s other famous conductus Viderunt omnes...
