I am without a clue as to how many years the current "embargo" in regards to PD in the US. Is it 100 years after death of composer or is it calculated based upon when the work was last published?
Just wondering........

Firstly, it's nothing like an
embargo, it's a legal term of protection. Secondly, it's presently 95 years from date of first publication. More information can be found here:

That 95-year term applies only to items first published between 1923 and 1977. It's not even a full 95 years in all cases. If you want to determine the copyright status of a work from this time period, all you have to do is kill a few chickens and spread their entrails on your computer keyboard while chanting "Carolus, Carolus, Carolus." Then take them down to your local KFC and have Colonel Sanders send me the bucket of chicken.
