On the Wiki there are two places that composers generally place biographical information: the talk page of your category and/or your user page. Either of these pages can be linked to on your composer category page.

Is it possible/permissible to upload a photo to a bio?

Certainly! Along the left-side menu under the "Toolbox" section click on "upload file" to upload your image to the wiki. To add the image to your composer page edit it and add text in the following format on a new line within the two sets of curly brackets:

You can also add the image to your user page by adding text in the following format to it:
