New members, private messages and attachments

Hi, I am quite new to this forum and sorry in advance if my question has been asked many times before... Today I received a private message which, I believe, has an attachment to it, but I cannot see it. Do I need to post a certain number of posts in order to be able to view the attachment (and, in fact, send private messages myself)? Arne
