Les contes de Hoffman

Post by jfartaria »

Hello I have a doubt about Les contes de Hoffman. Is the song "Vois sous l'archet frémissant" , from this opera? I have two cds and none has that music. And most of the opera scores don't have that song. Any thoughts about that?

Thanks

How many CDs are your Hoffmann recordings? They discovered another 100 pages (or something like that) in, I think, the 70s, and it was enough to force the opera to be 3 CDs instead of 2.

Yes, the romance of Nicklausse, "Vois sous l'archet frémissant", has been reinstated in the score as from the 1970 edition Oeser. If you can read French, there is a very good summary of the successive editions here:

Please note that the work's title is "Les contes d'Hoffmann" and not "Les contes de Hoffmann".

Thank you! I have only 2 cds. That's why I couldn't find the music.

Sorry about the spelling mistake. I forgot to correct the post, before sending it!:P

By the way, can anyone upload this song?

Thank you
