Exploring Rare Manuscripts on IMSLP – Any Tips?
Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring IMSLP for a while, and I’m particularly interested in finding rare or lesser-known manuscripts that aren’t commonly performed. Does anyone have tips on how to search effectively for these, or know of any hidden gems that might be overlooked? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey mikasabaggins,
One approach I’ve found useful is to really dig into the “Composer” and “Advanced Search” sections—filter by lesser-known composers or by specific time periods that interest you

You can search the categories:
Category:Composers' holographs from the 1500s
Category:Composers' holographs from the 1800s
Category:Composers' holographs from the 1700s
Category:Composers' holographs from the 1800s

Or:
Category:Manuscripts from the 1400s
and go up to the 20th century.
And just Category:Manuscripts will work as well.
