Question about uploading excerpts from larger works.

Post by Operalala »

Is it ok to upload specific arias from larger scores which are already uploaded in the IMSLP?

(i.e. I'm looking for a way to easily link to scores of specific arias without requiring the user to download the entire opera and then have to locate an aria in a 200-page score.)

First, check the files for the piano-vocal score first to see whether the excerpt is already given as a separate number.

If not, make sure that your edition of the aria(s) is in public-domain.

Then make sure there is a subheading on the work page called "Excerpts":
  • ===Excerpts===
and then upload your aria(s). If they don't appear directly under that heading after uploading, you'll need to edit the work page so that the data appears in the correct place.
