I would bring to your attention a classical work of organ music from which all the anthologies in the nineteenth and so forth have taken a lot of preludes:
FISCHER Michael Gotthard
Evangelisches Choral-Melodien-Buch : 4stg ausgesetzt mit Vor- u. Zwischen-Spielen ; 1. Präludien. - XIV, 243 S. - Pl.Nr. 31
Verlagsort: Erfurt | Erscheinungsjahr: (1846) | Verlag: Körner
Signatur: 1911587 Mus.pr. 2702-1 1911587 Mus.pr. 2702-1
I do not have the technical means to bring the scans published by Bayerische to an acceptable legible level. I hope others succeed.
A different editorial work is required, however, by the Passacaglia in F major of West:
WEST John Ebenezer
Passacaglias, org, F-Dur - BSB Mus.ms. 4746-8
[heading:] Passacaglia. (Variations // on a Bass.) // John E. West, 1897.
It is a manuscript ready for printing, if someone wants to transcribe it.
The two works are from Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.
Thanks for your kind cooperation
dgmc.

I can't find this signature for Fischer. The 2 results I get are: 5th edition http://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/de ... 00007.html and 3rd edition http://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/de ... 00005.html. Please provide the URL if none of these is the right result.

The first signature is the collection of PRAELUDIEN, the second that of CHORALEN. There are several editions that vary for print quality: I used the one of 1846 (http://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/de ... 00001.html)

Thanks. If I trim the "copyright" page and the empty pages I obtain a 70-MB pdf. Big but acceptable for imslp. If I convert it to monochrome, trim the margins etc it will be about 30-MB big. Do you think it is worth doing this work?
Is this version better than the 2 other I found? (3rd edition, scan quality etc)

Re: M.G. Fischer's and J.E. West's organ works editing
I am very grateful to Pierre Gouin for his beautiful editions: he immediately transcribed West's Passacaglia.
I hope that your work also improve contrast and remove shadows and stains on the background. Maybe 30 Mb is not easy to handle (I use Forscore with ipad) but I think the volume can be split into two sections.
I think that the Dritte .... Auflage (1846- Mus.pr.2702-1: http://reader.digitale-sammlungen.de/de ... 00001.html)) is more legible, but it's a general impression, I did not compare page with page.
Thanks for your attention.
