Please help show all works as choral ("with text")...

Dear Admins:

As I compose choral works, I share them here on IMSLP under the Creative Commons by-sa license.
My composer page is Peter Bird.
Generally, the submission process goes smoothly.

However, there is one structural issue where I need Admin help (or advice):
Since all my compositions are (and will continue to be) choral works,
they should probably all be tagged and displayed as works "With Text";
however, at present only a few of them have gotten this designation.

Have I misunderstood?
Does this perhaps mean, "With HTML Text Provided To Be Read Here At IMSLP"?
If so, I would be happy to provide the texts for all my pieces,
but I don't know where to start.

Any advice (or appropriate edits) would be appreciated.

Best wishes,
Peter Bird
Los Angeles

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by this; I've never seen any work page on IMSLP that is marked as "with text" (there used to be "Works with text by" categories but it's been quite some time since they were in use). Could you point to an example, perhaps? There are librettist categories (which has nothing to do with tagging), and as part of the tagging process both the language and instrumentation are marked, which is now the case for every work in your composer category. (For reference, to see how things are currently tagged: http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:CategoryW ... rd,_Peter/)

I think the issue with tags is that once a work has a language tag, it is clear there is text involved. In addition, most of these types of works have known librettists, so unless this person is unknown, the presence of a librettist also makes it clear there is text involved. I'm not sure what else would be needed.

Dear Admins:

I'm sorry I was unclear in my previous query.
It is my Composer page that has the peculiar distinction of a few (but not all)
of my submissions appearing under the heading,
"Works with text by: Bird, Peter"
not the individual Works pages.

Thanks,
Peter Bird

Can you post the URLs for the pages that don't behave as you want them to? I suspect, just off the top of my head, that you haven't listed yourself as librettist for the problem ones? It's the only reason I can think of that you wouldn't come up under "text by".

Or maybe, even if he did list himself as librettist, whoever edited the page just didn't bother to add the LinkLib template because it is kind of redundant to list the same workpage twice on one composer category. I know I've done that myself in the past, perhaps I was wrong to...

Dear Admins:

Thank you both; the fog is beginning to clear.

First, I see that I misinterpreted the ambiguous phrase
"Works with text by: Bird, Peter"
to mean
"{Works with text} by: Bird, Peter"
(meaning choral works).

However, IMSLP intends it to be parsed as
"Works with {text by: Bird, Peter}"
(meaning works for which I was the librettist).

I confirmed this new interpretaton by checking Handel's Messiah;
it is NOT listed under a heading
"Works with text by: Handel, Georg Frideric"
and in fact there is no such header on his composer page.

This relieves my mind; I was concerned that browsers would not
recognize that all my contributions are choral--but the heading
has nothing to do with that distinction.

I am not particularly concerned about getting credit for being librettist.

However, as I am a bit of a programmer myself (Fortran 90, C, ...)
I still wanted to clarify why I only got credit for some cases where I
was the librettist.
Looking at the Source tab, it appears that pages with data line
"Librettist = Peter Bird"
will not appear under the extra list on the Composer page;
they will only appear there if the Source data has a line similar to:
"Librettist = {Linklib | Peter|Bird}"
(or some such; I don't have those pages open any more to refer to).

Thanks for your time and attention!

Best wishes,
Peter Bird ("sometimes librettist, but always choral")
