Hummel Op 42 vs 52

There seems to be some confusion regarding the Opus Number of Hummel's "Six Easy Pieces". There are two pages with the same music, one listed as Opus 52, the other as opus 42. I don't actually know the true number.

You're right, this is a mess. There are WorldCat entries (several) under both numbers! However, due to the fact that Grove Music has it under op.52, I have copied all the "op.42" files there and will delete that page later.
Still to decide, though, is that, although the first publication was in Vienna, it had a French title -- ''6 pièces très faciles''. Probably that should be what reflects on the page.
Before I delete and rename, though, there is a link on the op.42 page that goes to this Allegro:
http://imslp.org/wiki/Allegro_(Hummel,_Johann_Nepomuk) with the comment that it is an adaptation of no.2 of the Easy Pieces. I can't find any connection, even allowing for the change of key, and there is nothing on the Allegro page itself that links it to any opus number, apart from saying that the preceding piece and the following piece are from op.42 (which needs to be changed to 52). Does anyone else see enough of a connection that this link should be maintained? It looks like an erroneous conclusion to me.

Hm, I'm not catching any link between that Allegro and the one from op. 52 either. The person who added that may have /thought/ it was an adaptation because of the surrounding pieces being from 52, but it's probably just another of his works.

Hallo Steltz,
You write that Grove has them under op. 52, but apparently you moved them to op. 42 ???????
For further confirmation of the Grove reassignment, the Berlin SBB card catalog has a cross-reference to op. 52 as well

I moved them but haven't deleted the op.42 page yet, so they still exist in both pages -- just wanted to give other people a chance to weigh in on it if anyone thinks Grove is wrong.
I still think the page should perhaps be ''6 pièces très faciles'', which according to Grove was the original title. And I still need to decide whether to copy over the link to the Allegro. Neither Harrison or I believe there's any real connection, so I think it maybe should disappear with the op.42 page . . .

You can re-direct the page instead of deleting it. That way it can be un-redirected and moved to something else if the need should arise with more research.

It's too late - I deleted op.42 yesterday. Is there anyway to un-delete it?
