I always say that "the medical profession is full of frustrated musicians" - and for the benefit of anyone who will be in Melbourne this Sunday and wants to go to a concert, I'd like to put in a plug for some of them.

All proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation (they donate their proceeds to a different medical charity each time they have a concert).
The program consists of:
Humperdinck - "Hansel & Gretel" overture
Beethoven - "Emperor" Concerto
Tchaikovsky - Symphony No.5
I'll definitely try to organize myself to be there.
And no, I'm not in the ADO, but a couple of my work colleagues are. (I knew there was a concert coming up because one of them was taking more and more time off work to practice his violin, but I only just realized it is this weekend!)

“all great composers wrote music that could be described as ‘heavenly’; but others have to take you there. In Schubert’s music you hear the very first notes, and you know that you’re there already.” - Steven Isserlis
