An Itunes/Mediamonkey for my pdf scores

Post by Steinsk »

Hi,

Here is a problem I have been struggling with for a while. Being a professional concert singer, I have quite a huge collection (several thousands) of scores in pdf format on my computer, and I am searching for a way to organize them as good as possible.
My ideal is how I have organized my music (mp3/flac) collection in Mediamonkey, where every file is tagged with Name, Composer, Lyricist, Opus, Voice (high, low) and year.
In addition, I have a dream to collect "playlists" of pdf-files, corresponding with my concert repertories.

I have been searching for quite a long time, but I still havent found any good way of doing this for documents. I am aware that iTunes can be used for organizing pdf documents, but for different reasons I'd prefer to avoid iTunes.

The ultimate solution would be one where I can organize the FILES themselves from within an organizer software; change names and move locations, but I see that this might be too much to ask.

So, my question is: Does anyone know any solution that would fit, or does anyone have any other genious solution for organizing (and searching, compiling) their scores, besides from having a tidy folder system (oh, I DO have!!)

Thanks :)

@perlnerd666: Thanks! I don't have my Windows-computer right now (sitting on Linux, but the question is, yes, Windows-related), so I cannot test iTunes.

I did a small check - from 9.1 iTunes has a Books-section, but as far as I understand from browsing a bit, that doesn't support pdfs?!
Has that function been added later, or how do you use it?

Thanks!

It works for me—I just drag-and-drop files in.

Oh great, another 75 GB of files to add to my 250+ GB iTunes library! (I’m only part way through adding my DVDs and digitising my cassette tapes)
