You're quite right about Stravinsky's arrangement being for 1 piano, 4 hands. The Dover is a reprint of the one issued by Muzika in 1965. So is the International Edition. I'll put a publication history up on the IMSLP page in a few days. I've compiled a number of these for various works over the years. They're also very useful as legal proof of publication dates, since there are a number of European publishers who've resorted to "scarecrow" copyright notices (printing a notice on an unedited reprint of a work in the public domain like an 1890s engraving of Brahms, etc.) in the hopes of fending off Kalmus, Dover and the like (not very successfully).

Where did you get all of this from?

Back when I was a music student, a musicology prof. made me do a number of these for various works. I kept them and have been posting over at IMSLP after doing a bit of updating via my library account. I've got them up for Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre and Chabrier's España also.

I looks like what's really lacking are 1) arrangements for solo piano (only one complete arr. - by Leechkis - that I know of in print) and 2) arrangements for 2 pianos or even 3 pianos. There are a couple of arrangements for band / wind ensemble around, too.

Le Sacre du Printemps is nice enough, once you get used to it. I wouldn't exactly kill myself over it either, but I don't mind listening a bit to it every now and then.

I'll have to agree, though, that Pierre Boulez and the Cleveland Orchestra version is a very good one. If you don't have it... well, now's the time.

For me, once I got used to it, I started liking it very much...more each time I listened to it!

the Boulez is indeed a very good one, but not the best, IMO.

IMO, Chailly (with...I forgot), Abbado (with LSO), Bernstein (both NY Phil and Israel Phil), Ozawa (with Boston, I think), Dutoit (with Montreal), Boulez (DVD version with LSO is perhaps better), MTT with SFO...those are the best as far as I've heard. I'm sure there are better ones, but those are my preferences.

There are some others which I don't like as well, namely Maazel (Cleveland) van Karajan (Berlin), and Stravinsky himself (Columbia...or is it CBC?).

Just my opinions...

I have to admit that one or two of Maazel's works are absolutely terribad...
