We’re a team working on OpenClassics (https://www.openclassics.org), a project to help people discover and read classic tales from around the world.
We try to pair each tale with a piece of music, following these ideas:
- The piece should be a classic within its own musical tradition.
- It should suit the tale’s atmosphere and cultural background.
- The recording should be freely licensed for reuse. Full credits and licence information are displayed.
- It should be entirely instrumental (no/limited vocals).
- It should have good sound quality, with the recording itself typically dating from 1950 or later.
We’re looking for ideas, in particular for the following tales (but web love to discuss the musics for the other tales as well):
- Hinemoa — New Zealand

https://www.openclassics.org/stories/the-bunyip - The Doomed Prince — Egypt
https://www.openclassics.org/stories/the-doomed-prince - The Birth of the Monkey King — China

https://www.openclassics.org/stories/momotaro - Releasing the Buffalo — Apache tradition

Thanks a lot !
