Hi,
On the Library, I have seen different editions of the third Liebestraum by Liszt. One is edited by Emil von Sauer, and this edition is different in phrasing than others, including the first version.
For those who played this piece, what edition did/would you use?

Re: Editions of Liebestraum (Lisz)
In the absence of a critical or urtext edition at IMSLP, I would almost always recommend a first edition. While the first edition here doesn't have fingerings, those can be adopted from another edition, provided the fingerings don't violate the phrasings explicit in the first edition. The first edition also has the poems which presumably inspired these pieces. They may help with your interpretation. For whatever its worth, this is my (prosaic) first go at a translation of the 2nd one:
Blessed Death (poem by Uhland)
Dead was I from love's delight
Buried I lay in your arms
Awakened was I by your kisses
Heaven I saw in your eyes.
And the first two lines of the 3rd
Oh love, love as long as you can, love as long as you are able
The hour is coming when you will be standing graveside and lament. . .
