Barber is great. Vanessa is my favorite of his, but also like Knoxville: Summer of 1915, and his Excursions for Piano and Summer Music Quintet is great as well.
p.s. Barber's home is 5 minutes from where I live. Pretty cool, huh?

I have to say one of the most underrated Barber pieces is his Capricorn Concerto for Flute, Oboe, Trumpet, and String Orchestra. Great piece of music!

Sirius Satellite Radio is streaming the 1966 first broadcast performance from the MET of the original version of Barber's Antony and Cleopatra all this week both over the air and over the Internet. It is a far better opera than its initial critics thought and would ably bear a fully staged revival.
