How to avoid redundancy in transcribing songs?

I'm transcribing a song to piano and i want to avoid making it sound redundant everytime the chorus repeats.
Should I transpose it to another key? What key then? Should I transpose it an octave higher? Add ornaments? That kind of stuff.
Or better yet, any classical pieces you reccommend to study? I know there are many of them but I don't have any musical background about this.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well if you want to study transcribers, you will of course want to start with Liszt, especially as he transcribed MANY songs, almost all of which are here.
