Wha'da you know. 7 volumes are at my uni.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one from Perth here...

I'll start doing it in my spare time (why not...) I will have a lot of it come 21st of November.

Ok I have borrowed the horn parts for volume I. How do I decrypt the files? once that's done, batch work with photoshop will be a breeze.

If you are on a Mac, you open them in Preview and print the pdf to... another pdf. You can also use PDF Key Pro on my Mac.

On windows you need to install ghostscript and any printing software that uses it (Search google for print to pdf), and do the same thing.

By the way, does anybody know if printing a PDF to PDF causes it to be resampled? Because that would degrade the image quality...

I couldn't notice much or any image degrading.

If by "decrypt" you man unlocking, I don't use Ghostscript on my PC I use pdfsam (PDF Split and Merge). Just combine the file you want to with another one (I created a blank file in Acrobat from a word-processing document that contains only a space), and then save the new file.

Sometimes, however, I've found that pdfsam doesn't work.

No need to decrypt, since it does not prevent you from printing. You just need to use ghostscript to print each page to a 1-bit BW tiff 300dpi image with g4 compression and use photoshop / gimp etc to do the image editing.

When using PDFSAM it isn't even necessary to create a new file. Simply add your locked file to the queue and re-save it as the same name in the same directory to over write the existing.
