streaming .mid files

For midi recordings I have noticed an annotation that says something to effect of "This file format cannot be streamed." This is at least partially incorrect, since clicking on the link within Windows Explorer will automatically open and play the file in the Windows Media Player without the need for any 3rd party add-ons.
