Sometimes orchestral parts have stunningly incorrect markings. The parts for the Rosamunde Overture, for example, clearly state the catalogue number as “D 797”, when the overture is the single item from the Incidental music to Rosamunde that has a different catalogue number!

Yeah, I already complained about this. Orchestral Music Library really dropped the ball here, and neglected to include the parts to the 1919 suite, or the 1910 original, despite both being PD in the US, and despite the fact that they announced it would be part of collection at first. Considering how much it costs for each separate part (especially the 1910 version), and how useless it would be for most people to own a complete set of parts, I doubt we'll be seeing any parts on here not included in any Orchestral Music Library set (outside of a few typeset exceptions of mostly smaller works).

Hi...I was wondering if you might have a copy of Mavra? I checked the list, and it wasn't there.
I've been looking everywhere and it seems the publication date is 1922.

Thanks!

You must be confused with the composition date. It was completed in 1922 but not published until 1925, thus not public domain in the US and cannot be included.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

And thanks for the quick response! I'll take a look around and see if I can find the score somewhere

Sorry to bother you again. I'm new to the whole PD thing. So I looked on OCLC's catalog to find a score in my area, and I found two that had originally been published in 1922 that are in the Princeton Uni library, then a third is in 1925. Is that not covered?

and just as a side thing...would you be able to tell me where I could find the rules for PD? I also have a bunch of music that I'd like to share if I'm not breaking the law by doing so

The 1922 date is an error.

Hi,

any idea, whether the parts of the Symphony in C (1938-40) are available for download somewhere / free of copyright?

Kindly let me know

The parts to the symphony ARE in the public domain in the US, but they weren't included with the OM stuff. If anyone has a full set and would like to send them to us, I'll digitize them. Otherwise, individual parts from Kalmus are $9 each or the full set for $300.

Actually, the Symphony in C (from 1940) is very much under copyright. I expect you're thinking of the much earlier Symphony in E-flat, which is free in the USA.
