Sibelius died 50 years ago today. I hope I will be seeing more of his music on this site. He should be fair game in Canada now!

He's in public domain January 1, 2008. Entry in public domain always starts the next calendar year. However, all we've got from his pre-1923 publications are already online on the US server.

Even if most Sibelius goes PD in Canada on Jan. 1, that does not apply for any works that were first published less than 50 years ago. Works published posthumously have a 50-year term from publication date.

If you read above, it is still out of copyright even in Canada until next year.

And there is quite a bit of hassles going on with IMSLP right now if you read the main page.

Yeah no one is able to get anything from IMSLP right now.

I hate the hassle which is going on with IMSLP right now i just hope this bloody problem gets sorted out. We need music scores because we are all students and we love our piano music. Why can't the bloody law firms or whatever just let us get on with our lives.

I mean i read that Vienna Universal are asking to put IMSLP back on the Net and put a restriction on the UE material on Europeans.
