Does anybody have the full orchestral score for Claude Debussy's "Petite Suite"? I don't know if Debussy orchestrated the piece himself, or if he got someone else (Ravel?) to do it, but I would really like to get this score! Thanks in advance!

Now this is one of the most egregious examples of our copyright laws
The orchestration is by Debussy's student Paul Henri Büsser (1872-1973), and since Büsser lived until he was 101, it will not be public domain until 2024 (Canada) or 2054 (EU).
Since it was originally published in 1907 (Durand) it may be uploaded to the US server, however.
Durand now belongs to Universal Music Publishing (formerly BMG-Ricordi), they will be happy to rent the full set but the score is not even available for purchase anymore. Not enough profit to be made from selling reprinted music...
If you don't live in the US, you will have to find it in a library.

I'll get my hands on Büsser's orchestration and his transcription for 2 pianos and add those in the coming weeks. I really thought we had these...

Didn't CDSM reprint these? I thought they were part of the OP Project, but couldn't be uploaded because back then we didn't have a US server. Or was that a different work?

Not sure, actually. If they did it would have been parts, not score.

I have scans of both the score and parts for this which I will e-mail you. The parts were indeed included as part of the OMCDRL - most of which we uploaded before the advent of the US server.

P.S.: this work is public domain in the US only,
not in Canada, in EU, and probably in your country, too.

I adore Debussy's compositions, my favorite are "Claire de Lune" and "Prélude". I've recently found them at eclassical on one cd called "Pavane" which also includes works of Dubugnon, Faure and Ravel in the performance of Maxim Rysanov. I love it!

Hello Everybody! I beg a pardon for bumping an old thread. But - during Corona crisis our orchestra performs lots of chamber music and Busser's arrangement is so nice. I mean "Petite suite", we will play it in February. So will we wait until 2054 in Europe to see this score here?

1 January 2044 is when they will be public domain in the EU, hopefully long after Coronavirus has passed us by.
