Hi folks!
I have this wonderful Urtext edition (Bärenreiter) of the Mozart Clarinet Quintett - already neatly scannend and prepared on my computer.
however in the Copyright it says: (c) 1958/1986 by Bärenreiter-Verlag Kassel.
from what i understand there is no real limit on urtext editions, however the IMSLP will voluntarily only upload urtext editions which are 25 years or older. Considering that my edition was first published in 1958 would it be wrong to upload it?
it'S the 9th reprint from 2002.
thanks in advance.
greetings
tilmaen

Re: Mozart - Clarinet Quintett
I just checked the Copyright Office online database. Federhofer's edition, BA 4730, published 1958, was actually renewed in 1986 as they claim. It would take a court case to prove it lacked sufficient originality to qualify for protection to begin with. So, unless there is a judicial decision or a change in the law, it's protected in the USA until 2054.
