It seems like nobody listens to what Mozart composed when he was a kid.

No hard feelings. I made a topic looking for people's thoughts on Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony. Let's face it, there are some pieces people just ignore.

Hmm....well, I think I was the only one to vote...
I listened to all of them when I listened to the complete works. They're not terribly good - sort of either L. Mozart or Abel, or something. His symphonies are the best things from that time - after he composed Apollo et Hyacinthus, suddenly his work is better - the effects of opera...

Has anyone listened to the Manfred Symphony? Trust me, it's a lot better than Mozart's early works.

Yes - and the fact that it isn't numbered has always bothered me - it's far better than Nos. 1-3.

We should probably start IMing somewhere - we're clogging the Music Related forum with a lot of conversations with mainly the two of us. I'll send you a PM. ;)

I've played Manfred several times. It doesn't come even close to Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony, though, at least not in my opinion.

I'm not sure comparing it to Mozart's young works is fair, though -- an experienced composer with a child, genius though he was . . . .
