I have a large collection of compositions by Ignaz Friedman. Nearly all of these were published before 1920. The early opus numbers were published in Poland, by no longer existing companies like Piwarski and Idzikowski. After 1922 Friedman apparently wrote very little in the way of original compositions, but instead produced around 80 or so arrangements. I assume most of these are non-PD in the US. I have manuscript copies, from Friedman's granddaughter in Switzerland, of unpublished works, and I can ask her what she thinks. Many of these late pieces were put out by Allan's in Australia, who are no longer puiblishing anything.
I think much of this music, including many songs in Polish, is worth performing. I've played a lot myself.

Re: Compositions by Ignaz Friedman
Assuming that Friedman's granddaughter is the legal heir, she would be in a position to grant permission for anything that is still under copyright. The USA is probably the only country where the copyrights might still be in force for the items issued in Australia. Items issued in Europe would still be subject to a full life-plus-70 term (until 1/1/2019). Items issued after 1922 with a compliant copyright notice and renewal 28 years later are still protected in the USA. Anything issued before 1923 is public domain in the US, though unpublished items are protected until 1/1/2019. Almost everything is free in Canada, China and other life-plus-50 countries (since he died before 1955, most things are free in Australia as well).
Should you obtain a letter granting permission, we'll un-block anything presently subject to the [TB] and re-do the EU status tags. IMSLP would be an outstanding means to make Friedman's music more widely known, in light of the significant traffic at the site.
